Welcome to the new home of the Boise Bike Trader’s Tales, now
with a brand new name and a whole new outlook! Tandem Revolutions is the ongoing saga of Daren and Lisa’s grand adventure from Anchorage, Alaska to Boise, Idaho via airplane, boat and bike. We intend to keep you updated with our training progress, our gear checklists and purchases as well as our progress once we’re under way.
So far we are somewhat on schedule for our training, though we both feel a need for a lot more miles on the bikes. One thing of concern: we have not been able to locate a tandem to borrow here in Boise and having only ridden on one twice, we have a bit of communication practice to do. If you know anyone who might like to let us borrow for a couple of weekend rides, let us know.
I have not been riding much to work in the last couple of months. This seems to be one of the wettest, coldest winters we’ve had in a long time and I caved in, even though I’ve got the right gear for it. Two things I purchased this past season for riding that I’m currently loving: Patagonia wool base layers and a Pearl Izumi Barrier jacket. Together, these are bombproof. Also my helmet cover made by a local fellow named Aaron Noleen (I believe) has been amazing. My head is never cold and it keeps the rain out, plus it has the added bonus of glow in the dark fabric. Nothing like adding a little alien glow to the night!
Tomorrow I’ll have a post about some riders I’ve seen from my driving lately who have me a bit riled up. Stay tuned!
Until we ride again, Ciao!
